Sales Orders

2 min read

Sales orders in Nexus are the same sales orders in your Fishbowl database. Any changes users make here are saved directly to Fishbowl.

The Sales Orders module is where users will create and manage orders for their customers. This includes standard sales orders, credit returns and drop ship orders.

The Sales Orders module can be found under the “Sales” section on the home page or in the sidebar.

When users open the module, they will see a list of their open sales orders.

Users can search for a specific order number or customer, or filter by status to find orders that are not open.

Sales Order Statuses #

Each sales order will show its current status in the list.

  • Estimate: a draft or quote. Nothing is set aside for the order yet, so it can be reviewed or sent to the customer first.
  • Issued: the order is confirmed and ready to be picked.
  • In Progress: some of the order has been picked or shipped.
  • Fulfilled: everything on the order has shipped.
  • Closed Short: the order was closed before everything shipped.

Creating a Sales Order #

To create a new order, users will select the new sales order option. The order will automatically be given the next order number.

Next, users will choose the customer. Their billing and shipping addresses and default terms will fill in automatically.

Users can then add the products and quantities for the order. Before saving, users can check inventory to make sure there is enough stock to fill it.

Once the order is saved, it will be in Estimate status.

When the order is confirmed, users will issue it. This creates a pick so the warehouse can start pulling the items.

Using the Assistant #

Users can also ask the assistant to create or look up sales orders, for example:

  • “Create a sales order for [customer], 10 B200s.”
  • “Where is SO 10127 and when does it ship?”

The assistant will show the order as a draft first. Nothing is saved to Fishbowl until the user selects Create in Fishbowl.
