Inventory in Nexus is the same inventory in your Fishbowl database. Any adjustments users make here are saved directly to Fishbowl.
The Inventory module is where users will see their on-hand stock and availability. Users can also add, move and scrap inventory and cycle count here.
The Inventory module can be found under the “Inventory” section on the home page or in the sidebar.
When users open the module, they can search for a part to see how much is in stock and where it is.
Inventory Quantities #
Each part will show its inventory in a few different quantities.
- On Hand: the total quantity physically in stock.
- Allocated: the quantity already assigned to sales, purchase, transfer or work orders.
- Committed: the quantity set aside on a pick. Committed stock is always allocated, but allocated stock is not always committed.
- Available for Sale: on hand, minus what is allocated or not available.
- Available to Pick: on hand, minus what is committed.
Cycle Counting #
Cycle counting updates the system to match what is actually on the shelf.
To cycle count, select the part and location, then enter the quantity that was counted.
- Cycle counts should be used for scheduled counts or to fix mistakes. Before correcting a mistake, try to find out how it happened.
Adding, Moving and Scrapping Inventory #
To add inventory without a purchase order, choose the part, the location and the quantity, along with any tracking such as lot or serial number.
To move inventory, choose the part, the location it is coming from and the location it is going to.
To scrap inventory that is broken or unusable, choose the part, location and quantity to remove.
Using the Assistant #
Users can also ask the assistant about their stock, for example:
- “What’s on hand for BRK-200 across all locations?”
- “Which parts are below safety stock?”
- “Reorder everything below safety stock and group it by vendor.”
When the assistant drafts purchase orders, nothing is saved to Fishbowl until the user selects Create in Fishbowl.
