Pallets

3 min read

Inventory added to pallets in Nexus is the same inventory in your Fishbowl database. Any changes users make here are saved directly to Fishbowl.

The Pallets module is where users will build and manage the pallets they have created.

The Pallets module can be found under the “Inventory” section on the home page or in the sidebar.

When users open the module, they will see a list of current pallets. From this screen, users can search for a pallet or create a new one.

  • Users can also use the filters to find pallets by status, part, tracking information, location or date.

Pallet Management #

Pallets can be created in several places in Nexus, including the Picks, Receiving, Work Orders and Pallets modules.

A pallet can hold any number of parts, whether it’s one item or dozens.

For example, while picking an order, users can add parts to an existing pallet or start a new pallet. Once a new pallet is started, it will be available for the other parts on that pick.

Each pallet is tracked by its status, so users always know where it stands.

  • New: a newly created pallet that hasn’t been saved yet.
  • Building: a pallet that was started but couldn’t be saved, for example if there wasn’t enough inventory.
  • Built: a pallet that was created successfully but hasn’t been used yet.
  • In Transit: the pallet is packed and being shipped.
  • Shipped: the pallet has been completely shipped.
  • Received: the pallet has been fully received.
  • Consumed: all inventory on the pallet has been used. Consumed pallets can’t be edited.

Creating and Editing a Pallet #

To start a new pallet, users will select the New Pallet button. To edit one, select an existing pallet in Built or Building status.

On the pallet creation page, users will choose a location for the pallet. Users can enter their own pallet number (SSCC) or leave it blank to use the next available number.

After selecting Create Pallet, users will be taken to the pallet page. This page shows the pallet’s current items, activity and history, including who created it and when it was last changed.

  • The Activity section shows changes to the pallet’s location, items and tracking, so users can see who changed what and when.

To add items, users will select Add Item. Search for the product, choose the source location the inventory is coming from, then enter the quantity.

Items already on the pallet can be edited. Users can change the location or quantity, move the item to another pallet, or remove it.

Once all items are added, users will select Finish Pallet. Users can also Transfer the pallet to a new location from the pallet page.

Using the Assistant #

Users can also ask the assistant about their pallets, for example:

  • “What’s on pallet 000123 and where is it?”
  • “Which pallets are in transit right now?”
  • “Show me built pallets that haven’t moved in 30 days.”

The assistant only shows data the user already has access to in Fishbowl.
