Parts

2 min read

Parts in Nexus are the same part records in your Fishbowl database. Any changes users make here are saved directly to Fishbowl.

The Parts module is where users will create and manage their part records.

The Parts module can be found under the “Inventory” section on the home page or in the sidebar.

  • A part is anything counted in inventory, whether it is sold or only used internally. A product is anything sold to customers. Every product is tied to a part.

When users open the module, they will see a list of their parts. Users can search for a part by number or description.

Selecting a part will open its record. Here users will see the part’s number, description, unit of measure, tracking, vendors and cost.

Creating a Part #

To add a new part, select the green Add part button at the top right of the parts list.

Enter the Part #, Description, Type and UOM. These are required. Users can also add a UPC, Revision, ABC code, Details or an Alert note.

  • Check Also sell this part to create a matching product, so the part can go on a sales order.

Select Create part to save. From the part’s page, users can add more information like weight and size, standard cost, vendors, tracking and a picture using the tabs at the top. Edits save automatically.

Reorder Points and ABC Codes #

Users can go to the inventory tab under a part to set a reorder point so they know when stock is running low.

Parts can also be given an ABC code. This groups inventory into A, B and C classes by how important or valuable it is.

Using the Assistant #

Users can also ask the assistant about their parts, for example:

  • “Who’s the vendor for part CLP-18 and what’s the lead time?”
  • “Which parts are below their reorder point?”
  • “Show me slow movers with no sales in 90 days.”

The assistant only shows data the user already has access to in Fishbowl.
